About Calasetta
Elements rises on the cliffside of a small village on the northwestern tip of the island of Sant’Antioco — embraced by the sea and dressed in white.
Calasetta holds thousands of years of history: from the mysterious houses of the fairies of the pre-Nuragic age, to the Phoenician treasures of nearby Sant’Antioco, from Aragonese legacies to the elegant urban lines drawn by the House of Savoy.
In 1770, thirty-eight families of Ligurian-Tabarchin fishermen, who had fled the island of Tabarka in Tunisia, chose these shores to reconnect with the sea and built a tower to protect their new community from pirate raids.
Since then, tuna fishing and vine cultivation have intertwined with the history and landscapes of Sardinia, giving life to traditions that still tell the story of a seafaring people who cherish the silence of the rocks, the light of the Mediterranean, and the fire of the sunsets.
Today, the community of Calasetta welcomes you with the same warmth as always — to share its story and enchant you with its beauty.
